Guest Day Information

"100% of the people that you do NOT ask will NOT join Kiwanis"

WHAT:

  1. Invite friends to attend at regular meeting designed to sign up new members.

HOW:

  1. Announce the Guest Day date four (4) weeks in advance. Set the date when the club is going to have a good program. You may need to schedule a good speaker.
  2. Announce the date of the Guest Day at each club meeting and in the club’s newsletter.
  3. Three (3) days prior to the Guest Day contact each member and encourage him or her to bring a guest on Guest Day. The person, who calls each member, should be a respected Kiwanian.
  4. Invite and bring guests to Guest Day.

AT GUEST DAY:

  1. Give each guest a Kiwanis brochure and Membership Application. Express an interest in the guests joining the club. (ASK THEM)
  2. One club member should give a special five (5) minute membership pitch prior to the speaker.
  3. After the speaker finishes, the President thanks the guests for attending and asks them to sign their membership applications.
  4. Members should stay after the meeting to talk to the guests and facilitate the signing of membership applications.
  5. Keep on top of the situation. Follow through and at a later date ask members about their guests who did not join. Encourage these members to follow up and report.

RESULTS:

  1. Guests become members.
  2. Members bring more guests than usual after a Guest Day, simply because they have Membership Development on their minds.

REMINDER:

A Guest Day will work much better if each club member is given a reminder to call their guests three (3) days before the Guest Day.
