Celebration by contributions
2/10/2010 - District: Indiana - Submitted by: Ron Phipps

The students at Fayettville Elementary School celebrated their 100th day in school by partnering with the Kiwanis Club of Oolitic to help supply basic daily care items for parents of children unexpectedly hospitalized at Riley Hospital for Children.  The students collected shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, kleenex and deodorant to list only a few of the items donated.  The school is incorporating the collections of items with basic math skills for the students.  Each grade level is able to use this collection in a different way in their math class.  For example, the kindergarten class is simply trying to see what the quantity of 100 items looks like.  What 100 of anything might actually mean.  The Oolitic Club is very excited about the partnership and are very thankful for the assistance.  Riley Hospital is a very important part of the Indiana District of Kiwanis.  The Indiana District has supported the hospital in many ways since 1924 and these items go to help supply their newest project, the Kiwanis Parent Comfort Cart.
