PLYMOUTH -- The Plymouth Chapter of Kiwanis raised nearly $4,900 in donations this past weekend during their annual Peanut Days fundraiser.
35 members of the local civic organization were out in force at the intersection of Jefferson and Michigan on Friday and Saturday asking for donations from drivers in exchange for a bag of peanuts. Kiwanians were also at the entrance of Kroger’s and Wal-Mart.
Peanut Committee Chairman Tom Sibal said “This was our most successful year ever for this event. It’s due to the great generosity of the people of Plymouth and all the hard work of our dedicated members.”
Funds raised from this event stay entirely local and provide money for Kiwanis to award scholarships to Plymouth and Argos High School students as well as a variety of other charitable causes such as the local Boys and Girls Club.
Sponsors for this year’s event were Jim Causey, Fr. William Kummer, Roba Kribs, Young’s TV and Appliances, Shoberg Appraisals, Susan Wagner, Ren VanGilder, Denny Beville, Lynn Ward, Melody Kruger and Dot Taiclet.
. Kiwains is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and once community at a time.
