Indiana Kiwanis and Riley Hospital Partnership

Indiana Kiwanis and Riley Hospital have been partners for over 90 years. Hoosier Kiwanians began supporting Riley Hospital even before it opened its doors to the children of Indiana.

Riley Children’s Foundation

 2019-2022 Kiwanis/Riley Initiative

Delivering Hope and Health is the title of our new, Indiana Kiwanis campaign for Riley Hospital. So, what is this campaign specifically? Indiana Kiwanians have committed to raising $1,000,000 over the next four years to establish a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist Endowment to ensure that every mother and baby in Indiana has access to the best possible prenatal and postnatal care. This Endowment will continue to provide this support in perpetuity.
Through the Maternal-Fetal initiative, Riley aims to provide: 1) Earlier diagnoses of fetuses with congenital anomalies, 2) More immediate diagnoses and care for moms carrying high risk pregnancies, and 3) Improved infant survival rates. Locally, Kiwanis clubs and individual Kiwanians can do the following: 1) Raise awareness about Indiana’s mortality rate and current efforts to improve it, 2) Educate your community about the “ABCs of Safe Sleep” to prevent sleep-related infant deaths, and 3) Host at least one local fundraiser for Riley annually.

K.I.D.S. (Kiwanis In Director Support) for Riley is an exciting program to benefit the families of Riley Hospital for Children, Indiana’s only comprehensive children’s hospital. Coordinated by Hoosier Kiwanians, this initiative helps meet the needs of Riley families through hands-on support and service projects that benefit children at the hospital and throughout communities statewide.

Since 1994, KIDS for Riley has served as the foundation for many special projects, partnerships, and new possibilities to improve the quality of life for children and families in Indiana and nationwide.

Make it possible for a new book to be put regularly into a child’s hands during their first five years of well-child visits to a local pediatrician in your community. Help start a ROR site in your community at pediatrician offices with individual and Kiwanis club donations of books that help encourage reading, which develops a child’s life-long abilities to think, speak, create, write, and interact with others. Riley Hospital pediatrician, Dr. Abigail Klemsz, serves as State Medical Director Indiana Reach Out and Read.

New and gently used books for young children through teens will be collected at our Mid-Year and District Conventions.
